Stardew Valley: How to Unlock the Greenhouse
How to unlock the greenhouse in Stardew Valley — the Community Center (Pantry) path and the Joja route — plus why the greenhouse is one of the best upgrades.
The greenhouse lets you grow crops year-round, regardless of season — making it one of the most valuable upgrades in Stardew Valley. Here’s exactly how to unlock it, by either path.

The greenhouse sits on your farm — but broken
From day one there’s a ruined greenhouse on your farm. You can’t use it until it’s repaired, and there are two ways to make that happen.
Path 1: Community Center (the cozy route)
The greenhouse is the reward for completing the Pantry room bundles in the Community Center. The Pantry bundles ask for farming and animal products — crops across all seasons, plus things like milk, eggs, and artisan goods.
Tips to finish the Pantry faster:
- Keep one of each crop you grow (don’t sell your only sample) — see the best crops guide.
- Some bundles want specific-season crops, so check what’s needed before a season ends.
- Animal products (large milk, large egg) come once you’ve bought a coop and barn.
Complete the Pantry and the Junimos repair your greenhouse for free. This is the recommended path.
Path 2: Joja (the money route)
If you bought a Joja membership, the Community Center is replaced by the Joja Community Development Form. There you can purchase the greenhouse for 35,000g. Faster if you’re swimming in gold, but it costs money and skips the cozy Junimo story.
Why the greenhouse is so good
- Grow any crop in any season, including winter.
- Perfect home for multi-harvest, high-value crops like Ancient Fruit — plant once, harvest forever, turn into wine for huge profit.
- A reliable income engine that runs all year.
After you unlock it
Fill it with your most profitable regrowable crop and pair it with kegs. Combined with the tips in our money guide, your greenhouse becomes a year-round gold machine. 🌿
