Fields of Mistria Romance & Marriage Guide (All Candidates)
A complete Fields of Mistria romance guide — every bachelor and bachelorette, how friendship and hearts work, the romantic vs best-friend route, and what's still coming to marriage in Early Access.
One of the loveliest parts of Fields of Mistria is getting to know its townsfolk — and yes, falling for one (or quietly deciding who you’d marry first). Here’s a complete, honest look at romance in Fields of Mistria: who you can date, how hearts work, and what’s still being built out in Early Access.

How romance works
Romance grows out of plain old friendship. Every resident has a heart level that rises as you spend time with them, and higher hearts unlock story scenes called heart events — the little cutscenes that flesh out each character. You raise hearts the cozy way:
- Talk to them every day. A simple daily conversation nudges friendship up on its own.
- Give gifts they love. Each character has loved, liked, and disliked items. A loved gift moves hearts much faster than a neutral one, and birthday gifts count for extra.
- Watch for heart events. As hearts climb, you’ll trigger scenes around town that deepen the relationship.
Each villager’s exact loved gifts shift as the game updates — when in doubt, foraged seasonal flowers and home-cooked dishes are a safe, welcome early gift for almost everyone.
Romantic route vs. best-friend route
Since a recent update, Mistria lets you choose two kinds of close relationship: a romantic route (dating, heading toward marriage) or a best-friend route if you’d rather keep things platonic. That means you can get close to a character you adore without it having to become a romance — a genuinely thoughtful, cozy touch.
All romance candidates
There are currently twelve romanceable characters, and every one is available regardless of your character’s gender.
Bachelorettes
- Adeline — the town’s leader, who hands out many of your early quests as Mistria rebuilds.
- Celine — a warm, plant-obsessed gardener whose family runs the general store.
- Juniper — a confident sorceress who runs the Bathhouse and is forever testing potions.
- Reina — the inviting, flirtatious cook at the Sleeping Dragon Inn.
- Valen — the village doctor.
- Seridia — a more recent addition to the romanceable cast.
Bachelors
- Balor — a charming traveling merchant, and often the first bachelor you’ll meet.
- March — a gruff-but-soft blacksmith carrying on his family’s trade.
- Hayden — your friendly farming neighbor over at Sweetwater Farm (and his beloved chicken, Henrietta).
- Ryis — Mistria’s good-natured carpenter, who helps you with building and crafting.
- Eiland — the town’s archaeologist and head of the Historical Society, perfect if you love uncovering Mistria’s past.
- Caldarus — the mysterious dragon, a later and more unusual romance option.
Getting engaged and married
Here’s the honest part: marriage isn’t fully implemented yet. Fields of Mistria is in Early Access, and while dating and deep relationships are in the game, the full marriage flow — including the wedding event itself — is confirmed but still on the way. The developers have been rolling romance out steadily, so the safest plan is to build the relationship you want now and enjoy the heart events, knowing the wedding payoff is coming in a future update.
Tips for faster hearts
- Pick one or two early. Spreading gifts across all twelve is slow. Focus your loved gifts on the character(s) you actually want to romance.
- Never skip a birthday. A loved gift on a character’s birthday is the biggest single friendship boost you can give.
- Keep loved gifts in your bag. When you stumble on someone’s favorite item, hang onto a couple so you’re always ready for a daily hand-off.
- Make talking a routine. Fold a quick town lap into your morning, before you head to the mines or fields.
