Best Gifts for Each Stardew Valley Villager (Loved Gifts Guide)

Win over every villager fast with the right present. Our Stardew Valley gift guide lists universal loved gifts plus the best loved gift for all 12 marriage candidates.

By The Cozy Game Guide Team

Gifts are the fastest way to build friendships (and romance) in Stardew Valley. Give someone a loved gift and you’ll earn 80 friendship points — and double that on their birthday. Give the wrong thing and you’ll actually lose points.

This guide covers the universal loved gifts that work on almost everyone, plus the best loved gifts for each marriage candidate.

Universal loved gifts (almost everyone loves these)

These are loved by nearly every villager, making them the safest gifts in the game:

  • Prismatic Shard
  • Pearl
  • Magic Rock Candy
  • Rabbit’s Foot
  • Golden Pumpkin

The catch: they’re rare or valuable. Save them for villagers you most want to befriend quickly — or for birthdays, when the friendship boost is doubled.

Universal likes (good fallback gifts)

When you don’t know someone’s tastes, these are usually safe:

  • Most flowers (like Tulips and Sunflowers)
  • Most fruit and many cooked dishes
  • Gold Bars, Maple Syrup, and most gems

Universal hates (never gift these!)

Avoid giving anyone:

  • Trash, Broken items, and Driftwood
  • Bait, Tackle, and Crafting materials (most people dislike these)

Best loved gift for each marriage candidate

Smart gifting tips

  • You can gift twice per week per villager (plus their birthday). Make those gifts count.
  • Birthdays give 8x the friendship. Check the calendar in Pierre’s shop and save a loved gift for the day.
  • Wine and gems are versatile. Wine is loved or liked by many adults, and a spare Diamond pleases lots of villagers.
  • Don’t waste universal loves early. A Pumpkin works just as well on Abigail as a Prismatic Shard — save the rare stuff.
