If you’ve ever felt a tiny spark of joy from lining up pencils by size or squaring off a stack of books, A Little to the Left was made for you. It’s a cozy puzzle game about tidying things into satisfying order — and it’s far more soothing than it has any right to be. Here’s our honest take.

In short: a gentle, gorgeous little puzzler that turns organizing into meditation. Short, but lovely the whole way through.

What is A Little to the Left?

A Little to the Left is a cozy organizing puzzle from Canadian studio Max Inferno, released in 2022. Each puzzle hands you a cluttered drawer, shelf, or desk and asks you to arrange the objects “just so” — sorting by color, size, shape, or some satisfying hidden logic. A mischievous cat is forever knocking your work askew, which is somehow part of the charm.

It’s on PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox, and it’s Steam Deck friendly. Two DLC packs (Cupboards and Drawers, and Seeing Stars) add dozens more puzzles if you want more.

What it does brilliantly

  • Pure tactile satisfaction. Snapping objects into a tidy arrangement triggers that same quiet pleasure as a clean desk — it’s genuinely relaxing.
  • Beautiful, warm presentation. The hand-drawn art, soft palette, and gentle music make every puzzle feel like a cozy afternoon.
  • No pressure at all. No timers, no scores, no failure — just you, some clutter, and a calm little “aha.”
  • Clever, charming surprises. Many puzzles have more than one solution, and the game delights in rewarding curiosity.

Where it falls short

  • It’s short. The base game is a few hours; if you want lots more, you’ll lean on the DLC.
  • Some puzzles are ambiguous. Because solutions rely on “intended” logic, a few can leave you unsure what it wants — there’s a gentle hint system, thankfully.
  • It’s a vibe, not a challenge. Puzzle purists chasing difficulty should look elsewhere; this is about calm, not brain-burn.

Who should buy it?

Buy it if: you love the satisfaction of tidying, you adored Unpacking, or you want a gentle game to decompress with for an evening. It’s a perfect wind-down.

Maybe skip it if: you need a long, meaty game or crave real challenge — this is a short, soft experience by design.

The verdict

A Little to the Left understands something simple and lovely: putting things in order feels good. It’s brief, but every minute is warm, pretty, and quietly delightful — exactly the kind of game to play with a cup of tea after a long day.

Worth it? Yes — especially on sale, and especially if a tidy drawer makes you happy.
